About Milner
Milner is a Lamar County city founded in 1842 and named for pioneer citizen Willis R. Milner. U.S. 41 runs along the southwest side, linking the city to Barnesville and Griffin, while the Eastern Continental Divide passes through town. Water leaves Milner in two directions: Prairie and Edie creeks drain east toward the Little Towaliga and Ocmulgee system, while Grape Creek runs west through Potato Creek toward the Flint River and the Gulf of Mexico. Milner is a west-central Georgia city where one highway and a continental divide make the local geography unusually easy to read.
