Mineral Springs, IN

Mineral Springs is an unincorporated census-designated place in Bartholomew County, Indiana, on the southeast side of Columbus. The 2023 Census boundary map places the community in the county’s Sand Creek Township, among rural roads and small settlements south and east of the city. That gives Mineral Springs a practical identity: a named county community close to Columbus, with its own statistical boundary and no separate municipal government or central business district.

The broader corner of Bartholomew County also has a documented mineral-spring history. The historic Azalia Mineral Spring was documented six miles southeast of Columbus in 1901–02; it was a separate site from the current CDP. County records also refer to Mineral Springs in road and drainage work, tying the name to a working county landscape. Columbus supplies the nearest concentration of county, commercial, medical, and cultural services, while Mineral Springs remains a named place on the rural edge. Its clearest local story is geographic: a formal Census area surrounded by the roads, drainage, and township lines of southern Bartholomew County.
