About Mineral Wells

Mineral Wells is a city in Palo Pinto and Parker counties, Texas, named for the mineral springs that drew health tourists in the early 1900s. The city of approximately 15,200 served as the 1919 spring training site of the Chicago White Sox and was later the location of Camp Wolters, a major U.S. Army training ground established in 1925. Mineral Wells State Park offers outdoor recreation including rock climbing at the popular Penitentiary Hollow, and public education is provided by the Mineral Wells Independent School District.
