Mishicot, WI

Mishicot is the Manitowoc County town wrapped around the Village of Mishicot, with Fisherville, Kingsbridge, and part of Tisch Mills also in the town’s boundaries. The local story starts near the East Twin River, where Daniel Smith built a sawmill in 1844; the village later took its name from Chief Mishicott of the Potawatomi community. The village formed in 1847, while the town’s broader map still includes farmland, wooded stretches, streams, and river country. The old village school now houses the Mishicot Historical Museum. Mishicot is eastern Wisconsin with a town-and-village split, a sawmill beginning, and a name that carries a Native leader forward.
