About Mobridge
Mobridge is a Walworth County city on the Missouri River, with 3,261 residents in the 2020 census. Its name is a railroad shortening of "Missouri Bridge," and the crossing shaped the city from its founding in 1906. The riverfront also carries a much older story: Mobridge sits in a landscape shaped by Lakota and other Native peoples, and the city's own history ties its growth to Native roots and railroad work. Downtown Main Street runs toward a 30-acre waterfront site on Lake Oahe, the former rail-depot land now lined by shoreline paths and riverfront plans. The local calendar moves between fishing tournaments, hunting, the Sitting Bull Stampede Rodeo, the Fall Festival, and winter ice-fishing events. The Sitting Bull Monument, Oscar Howe murals, library, parks, and pool add places to the city map. Mobridge is a Missouri River crossing where railroad history, Native history, and an outdoor economy meet at the same waterfront.
