Monette, AR

Monette sits in the heart of Buffalo Island, a fertile farming stretch of Northeast Arkansas about a half-hour drive east of Jonesboro. Founded as a railroad stop around the turn of the twentieth century, it has settled into a quiet, friendly town surrounded by wide-open cotton and soybean fields. Highway 18 runs right through town, giving residents a straightforward commute to Jonesboro's hospitals, shopping, and dining while keeping everyday life relaxed and affordable.

Much of local activity centers around the Buffalo Island Central schools, where the high school brings together families from Monette and neighboring farming towns for Friday night games and community events. Everyday essentials are close at hand, from the local library branch to neighborhood diners, while the St. Francis River lowlands nearby offer great spots for fishing and duck hunting. It is a classic Arkansas Delta town where people know their neighbors and take pride in their local roots.
