About Montgomery
Montgomery is a Lycoming County borough along the West Branch Susquehanna, with Williamsport about eight miles to the northwest. John Lawson established a homestead here in 1783, and a town formed around a mill by 1870. Montgomery incorporated in 1887 from part of Clinton Township. It is central Pennsylvania in a straightforward river-town pattern: old homestead, mill town, borough streets, and the Susquehanna carrying the larger story past.
