Montreal, WI

Tucked away in northern Wisconsin right by the Michigan border, Montreal is a peaceful community of around 800 people along the West Fork of the Montreal River. Dense Northwoods forests, river valleys, and nearby waterways give the town a scenic backdrop. The Gile neighborhood sits right alongside the Gile Flowage, making it easy for residents to spend an afternoon fishing, kayaking, or enjoying the water views.

Montreal grew as a planned mining community in the early twentieth century, and that heritage is still visible in its well-kept historic homes and quiet, tree-lined streets. Today, it offers a relaxed small-town pace where people appreciate a close-knit feel and quick access to the outdoors, from winter snowmobile trails and ski hills to summer hiking and camping.
