Moody, TX

Moody is a McLennan County city that grew from the pre-Civil War settlement of Perry after the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad bypassed it in 1881 and stopped at a new town site. Colonel W.L. Moody, who supervised the track laying, gave the new place his family name, and the city incorporated in 1901. When a tornado hit Perry in 1926, many families and businesses moved to Moody, leaving Old Perry as a cemetery and a field. Moody is a Central Texas railroad town with a second chapter written by a storm.
