About Moody

Located in McLennan County between Waco and Temple, Moody is a quiet Central Texas town with deep railroad roots. The community got its start in the 1880s when a new rail line bypassed the older settlement of Perry, prompting folks to settle around the new depot named for Colonel W.L. Moody. After a 1926 tornado damaged what was left of Perry, the remaining neighbors moved over as well, shaping the peaceful, close-knit small town that exists today.
