Moodys, OK

Moodys is an unincorporated community in Cherokee County, about eight miles north of Tahlequah. The 2020 census counted 854 residents. Its post office opened in 1896, and the place still has the kind of local geography that revolves around a name, a ZIP code, and the roads connecting homes to Tahlequah. Cherokee Public Schools serve the surrounding community, keeping school traffic part of the daily rhythm. There is no big downtown story here, and that is part of the scoop. Moodys is rural northeastern Oklahoma: open land, long drives, mail pickup, and a community name that has stayed on the map for more than a century.

The hills and pasture roads do more to define it than any formal center.
