About Mooreville
Mooreville is a Lee County census-designated place along Mississippi Highway 178, about seven miles east of Tupelo and four miles west of Dorsey. The 2020 census counted 859 residents. The community grew around the Moore family name, and by 1900 it had an academy, three churches, a Masonic lodge, and a Woodmen of the World lodge. I-22 and U.S. 78 form the northern edge, giving the place a fast regional route just beyond its older road. That mix keeps the place tied to both old Lee County routines and the modern Tupelo commute.
Mooreville Elementary, Mooreville Middle, and Mooreville High sit within the Lee County School District, making the school grounds the clearest everyday center. Local creeks run south-southeast toward the Tombigbee River, while Highway 178 carries trips west to Tupelo and east toward Dorsey and Itawamba County. Mooreville's local scoop is a small crossroads with a full school sequence, a post office, and a river-bound landscape just outside Tupelo.
