Moreland, ID

Moreland is a Bingham County farming community on the Snake River Plain, about five miles northwest of Blackfoot. The 2020 census counted 1,264 people. The townsite was laid out in 1886, with more land added by 1890; homes, a school, a post office, and a Latter-day Saint ward followed as settlers built around irrigated fields. The old pattern still makes sense: farm roads run toward Blackfoot, while grain trucks and livestock traffic fit the wider county economy.

Moreland Park gives the community its clearest gathering spot. The 39-acre park sits about half a mile north of town and has three ponds used for swimming and fishing, along with a playground, softball fields, and picnic areas. That mix fits Bingham County's larger agricultural picture, where potatoes, grain, sugar beets, and livestock shape the land around the Snake River. Moreland feels tied to both scales: a small townsite with its own park and school, and a working farm district that looks to Blackfoot for the next layer of services.
