About Morrisville

Morrisville sits midway between Raleigh and Durham in the Research Triangle, beside Research Triangle Park, Raleigh-Durham International Airport, and Interstate 40. The town recorded 29,630 residents in 2020. Its name dates to 1852, when Jeremiah Morris donated land to the North Carolina Railroad for a depot, water tower, and other facilities; the rail line and crossroads toward Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and Hillsborough then supported the settlement’s growth. Upper Crabtree Creek runs through central Morrisville and feeds Lake Crabtree at the town’s southeastern edge. The Morrisville Christian Church, Williamson Page House, and Pugh House are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
