Mount Carmel, FL

Mount Carmel is an unincorporated census-designated place in Santa Rosa County, Florida, with 243 residents in the 2020 census. It sits in the northern part of the county near Jay, where Florida State Road 89 is the main north-south route. The community is part of the Pensacola–Ferry Pass–Brent metropolitan area on paper, but the local map is rural: farms, church roads, and long stretches of pine country link it to Jay, Milton, and the Alabama line. At about 171 feet above sea level, Mount Carmel is a small inland settlement well away from the coast.

Mt. Carmel Methodist Church has served the surrounding community since 1869, giving the name a local institution and a long religious history.
