Mount Jackson, PA

Located in North Beaver Township in Lawrence County, Mount Jackson is a quiet rural village with roots dating back to 1815. Settler John Nesbit founded the town and named it after Andrew Jackson following the Battle of New Orleans. In its early years, it grew as an agricultural community and a busy stagecoach stop, connecting New Castle travelers to regional rail lines across western Pennsylvania.

The village also holds a proud Civil War history. In June 1861, eighty local volunteers walked nine miles down to Enon Valley to board trains for the Union Army. They served as Battery B of the First Pennsylvania Light Artillery, fighting in major battles like Gettysburg. For decades, the town honored them with an annual Battery B Day parade and reunion. Today, a historic cannon and monument still stand by the cemetery, giving this peaceful country crossroads a tangible connection to the past.
