Mount Morris, PA

Mount Morris is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Perry Township, Greene County, near Interstate 79 and the West Virginia line. Its elevation is about 938 feet, and the 2010 census counted 737 residents. The community sits in the extreme southwestern corner of Pennsylvania, where farm roads, wooded hills, and the interstate meet at the edge of the state.

Greene County's Warrior Trail gives the wider area a much older layer of history. The route follows a path associated with Native American travel, trade, hunting, and warfare over thousands of years, and the county section runs through the same southwestern landscape that surrounds Mount Morris. I-79 gives the community a modern north-south connection, while nearby roads lead toward the Mason-Dixon line, West Virginia, and the Monongahela country. Mount Morris is a small place with a straightforward present-day map, but the land around it carries the marks of older trails and much longer movement across the hills. The trail remains part of county recreation.
