About Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon is a city and the county seat of Knox County, Ohio, located along the Kokosing River forty miles northeast of Columbus. Platted in 1805 and named after George Washington's Virginia estate, the community of approximately 17,100 is home to Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Historically known as the birthplace of Cooper Industries, the city features a well-preserved historic downtown district and a variety of local manufacturing and service enterprises.
