Mount Victory, OH

Mount Victory is a Hardin County village founded in 1851 on the rural route of State Route 31. CSX tracks run through town, carrying freight and Honda cars from the plant near Marysville, while the road connects the village with Marion, Kenton, and Columbus-area routes. The village park sits northeast of the center, and Ridgemont Local Schools occupy the west edge. Farm fields and nearby Old Order Amish settlements give the surrounding country a distinct agricultural setting.

Mount Victory began when Ezra Dille won the land sale for the town site, prompting Thomas McCall to call out, “Victory, Victory—we shall name the town Mount Victory!” The old business block grew around lumber, mills, railroad work, blacksmiths, and merchants. Today antique and craft shops, a library, post office, restaurants, and local stores line the village’s everyday circuit. The Memorial Day Antique and Vintage Car Show brings nearly 300 cars through the streets, turning the rail-and-main-street town into a regional gathering point.
