About Mountain Green

Mountain Green sits right where Weber Canyon opens into the wide expanse of Morgan Valley, roughly twenty minutes east of Ogden. It is a quiet mountain community tucked between rugged peaks and the Weber River, with Trappers Loop climbing straight out of town toward Snowbasin Resort and Pineview Reservoir. While largely residential today, the area has deep roots in the 1820s fur trade, when British and American trappers nearly clashed along the riverbanks. It is also the long-time home of Browning's corporate headquarters, whose campus near Interstate 84 remains a familiar local landmark and one of the valley's major employers.

Daily life here centers on the outdoors, family routines, and close-knit neighborhoods. Younger kids attend Mountain Green Elementary and Mountain Green Middle School right in town, while high schoolers take a short bus ride down the valley to Morgan High. Outdoor recreation is practically right out the front door, with neighborhood trail networks winding through The Cottonwoods, youth sports at Kent Smith Park, fly fishing on the river, and scenic road cycling along Old Highway Road. Even without a traditional city hall, residents stay connected through school councils, recreation programs, and elected fire and sewer boards.

If you are shopping for a home, keep in mind that Mountain Green's mountain terrain means properties can vary quite a bit from one street to the next. Homes perched in the foothills, such as in The Highlands, offer panoramic valley views but often involve steeper driveways, winter snow management, retaining walls, and wildfire safety landscaping. Down on the valley floor, neighborhood lots may have distinct HOA covenants and different utility connections. Because the area is unincorporated, take time to check water shares, confirm sewer hookups, and review property boundaries for each home on your shortlist.
