About Mountain Park
Mountain Park in Fulton County is the incorporated Georgia city; a separate unincorporated Mountain Park sits in Gwinnett County. The Fulton city became a municipality in July 1927, first within Milton County before that county merged into Fulton in 1932. Lake Cherful, built in 1951 over Oscar Burrell’s cornfield, gets its name from Cherokee and Fulton. Mountain Park also became the first Georgia municipality to require a recycling program in 1989. The local shorthand is a small city, a named lake, and a history that keeps crossing county lines.
