Mountainhome, PA

Mountainhome is a Pocono Mountain CDP in Barrett Township, centered along Route 390 where the township’s business strip meets the forested roads of northern Monroe County. The place is small, but it works as a local crossroads: PA 390 and PA 191 meet here, and the road continues toward Canadensis, Cresco, and the northern Poconos. Mountainhome is also tied to Barrett Township’s older resort and railroad landscape, with the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western line and the Cresco Station Museum nearby. Callie’s Candy Kitchen and the old Pocono Playhouse are part of the place’s local memory, even as the larger story is one of a village serving the surrounding mountain townships.
