About Munfordville
Munfordville is Hart County's seat on the north side of the Green River, where the old crossing grew into a courthouse town and railroad bridge. The settlement was once Big Buffalo Crossing; Richard Jones Munford donated land for the county seat in 1816. U.S. 31W is Main Street, I-65 passes just northwest, and the 1862 Battle of Munfordville made the bridge a Civil War target. Munfordville is south-central Kentucky in a river-crossing-and-railroad shape.
