About Murphys

Murphys is an unincorporated historic village and census-designated place in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Calaveras County, California. Originally established as a gold mining settlement by John and Daniel Murphy in 1844, the resort community of approximately 1,951 is served by the Vallecito Union School District and features numerous wine tasting rooms locally.
