Nanakuli, HI

Nanakuli is a census-designated place on Oahu's west coast, near the southern end of the Waianae mountain range and about 30 miles from Honolulu. It is part of the leeward side of the island, with a drier, sunnier feel than windward Oahu and a stronger local residential character than the resort areas elsewhere. Public schools are operated by the Hawaii Department of Education. Nanakuli is shaped by ocean, mountains, long commutes, Native Hawaiian community ties, and the everyday realities of living on the island's west side.
