About Naples

Naples is the village at the center of the larger Town of Naples in Ontario County's Finger Lakes region. The 2020 census counted 931 residents in the village. New York Routes 21, 53, and 245 meet around Main Street, with Naples Central School serving the surrounding town and village. The village's shops, churches, school grounds, village offices, and roads toward Canandaigua Lake give it a local center, while Canandaigua, Rochester, and the wider Finger Lakes provide larger services and jobs.

Grapes were planted in the Naples area in the nineteenth century, and vineyards, wineries, grape pie, and the annual Grape Festival still shape the calendar. The festival began in 1961 and takes over the school grounds and nearby civic spaces each September. Naples Creek runs through the valley, and the village's older streets sit among the hills south of Canandaigua Lake. The village is smaller than the town around it, but it is the place where the school, festival, village government, and everyday business meet.
