Nashville, MI

Nashville is a Barry County village built around the Thornapple River, with a name that sounds musical but a history that started with mills and a river crossing. The village was founded in 1869 and stretches across Castleton and Maple Grove townships at the meeting of M-79 and M-66. Earlier settlers worked the river's edges with Hanchett and Holler sawmills, followed by a gristmill built in 1867. The Thornapple still runs through the middle of town, and the village's parks and trail plans keep that water connection current. Nashville is a small Michigan place where the river, two highways, and a mill-era downtown still fit together.
