Needham, MA

Needham has a fascinating backstory. Much of the landfill used to build Boston's Back Bay neighborhood in the nineteenth century was gravel hauled by train straight from Needham's quarries. Needham Crossing hosts headquarters and regional offices for major employers like TripAdvisor, SharkNinja, and NBCUniversal, alongside expanding healthcare facilities from Boston Children's Hospital. Education is a major draw for families as well. Beyond the town's highly rated public school system, Needham is home to the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering, an innovative college that brings creative energy and smart design into the local community.

Everyday life tends to orbit around Great Plain Avenue in downtown Needham, a walkable strip filled with local restaurants, independent shops, and the popular Needham Free Public Library. For outdoor recreation, the 600-acre Cutler Park Reservation sits right along the Charles River, offering easy loop trails around Kendrick Pond, quiet spots for fishing and birdwatching, and convenient places to paddle a canoe.
