Nerstrand, MN

Tucked into the rolling farmland of Rice County, Nerstrand is a quiet rural community of around 300 residents. Founded in the late nineteenth century by Norwegian settlers, the town holds onto its historic roots and friendly atmosphere. Main Street remains the heart of the community, anchored by a local grain elevator and longtime staples like Nerstrand Meats, known throughout southern Minnesota for its smoked sausages and homemade ring bologna.

Nature is one of the biggest draws for newcomers, with Nerstrand-Big Woods State Park right down the road offering shaded hiking trails, wildflowers, and scenic picnic spots.
