About New Eagle
New Eagle is a Washington County borough along the Monongahela, pressed against Monongahela to the east and facing Forward Township across the river. It began as Riverview, laid out by J. S. Markell in 1901, then incorporated as New Eagle in 1912. The name reaches back even farther: a New Eagle mine was already part of the local story in 1864. Today the borough's riverfront setting and Ringgold school connection make it feel like a small piece of the Mon Valley with its own name and borough line.
