New Hartford, IA

New Hartford is a Butler County city about 12 miles west of Cedar Falls. Its local map is tied to a larger school network: New Hartford Elementary sits on Beaver Street, Dike-New Hartford Junior High is also in town, and the shared district places the high school in Dike. The Dike-New Hartford Community School District came from the 1996 merger of the Dike and New Hartford school systems, so the town's school identity crosses the city line.

Packwaukee Street holds the Martin Memorial Library, with a historical room, activities and groups, online library access, and Saturday hours. The city also points toward public gardens, parks, businesses, churches, and regular council meetings at City Hall. Council meetings take place on the first Wednesday of each month, giving the civic calendar a regular marker.
