About New Milford

New Milford is a historic town in Litchfield County, Connecticut, situated along the Housatonic River fourteen miles north of Danbury. Bordering the northeastern shore of Candlewood Lake, the community of approximately 8,200 features a historic village green and several former stations on the Underground Railroad. The town is home to the GMS Rowing Center and public education is provided by the New Milford School District.
