About New Philadelphia

New Philadelphia is a city and the county seat of Tuscarawas County, Ohio, situated along the Tuscarawas River seventy miles south of Cleveland. Historically, the area was the site of Schoenbrunn, founded in 1772 by Moravian missionary David Zeisberger as the first settlement in the Northwest Territory. Today, the city of approximately 17,500 hosts the Kent State University Tuscarawas campus and features the community Tuscora Park, famous for its historic antique carousel.
