New Site, AL

New Site is a town in north-central Tallapoosa County, closest to Horseshoe Bend National Military Park and within the Alexander City micropolitan area. The town incorporated in 1965, but the surrounding landscape carries a much older story: the Battle of Horseshoe Bend in 1814 helped end the Creek War, and the Tallapoosa River bend remains a place where Muscogee history, military history, and Alabama’s later settlement meet.

New Site Town Hall and Community Center give the town a civic home, while nearby Horseshoe Bend offers trails, exhibits, and a direct connection to the history of the Muscogee people and the battle site. Wind Creek State Park and Lake Martin add boating, fishing, camping, and other water-based recreation within the wider area. Alexander City supplies larger shopping, employment, and health care, while New Site’s roads and neighborhoods remain tied to Tallapoosa County’s rural landscape. The town’s local rhythm runs between community meetings, lake weekends, school and church life, and the visitors who come to understand Horseshoe Bend.
