About New Square
New Square is a village in Rockland County, near Spring Valley, founded by Skverer Hasidic Jews and named for Skvyra, the Ukrainian town where the movement originated. It is one of the most culturally distinct communities in the region, with religious life, schools, family networks, and local institutions shaping nearly every part of daily life. New Square is dense and insular compared with surrounding suburbs, and its identity is much more communal and religious than typical Rockland County residential development.
