Newport CDP (Shelby County), OH

Founded along the Miami and Erie Canal in the 1830s, Newport is a quiet Shelby County community with deep local roots. You can still see its history at the intersection of State Routes 47 and 66, where old stretches of the canal towpath are used for walking and mountain biking. The local landmark, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, was built in the 1850s by early French and German settlers using clay and timber from the area.
