About Nixon

About 35 miles northeast of Reno, Nixon sits near the southern end of Pyramid Lake and serves as the administrative center for the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe. It is a quiet community that doubles as the primary stop for anyone heading out to the water for camping or world-class trout fishing. The tribal museum and visitor center on State Street gives a great introduction to local Paiute culture, and it is also where you pick up required recreation permits before heading down to the shore.
