About Noel

Noel is a McDonald County city on the Elk River near the Arkansas line, with Butler and Mill creeks meeting its map. The post office dates to 1886, and the town was named for brothers Clark Wallace and William Jasper Noel, stockmen and sawmill owners, after the Kansas City, Pittsburg and Gulf Railroad arrived. The name has made Noel's postmark part of the town's story, especially around the holidays. Noel is a southwest Missouri place where a railroad, a river, and a very seasonal name share one address.
