About Nolensville

Population growth is remaking a town whose historic spine still follows Nolensville Road and Mill Creek. William Nolen established a settlement here in 1797, and Nolensville incorporated in 1838; the modern municipality was reincorporated in 1996. Its population rose from 5,861 in 2010 to 13,829 in 2020, then to an estimated 15,789 in July 2025. The older district along Nolensville Road remains a civic and event setting even as subdivisions and town boundaries have expanded around it. Gregory Park connects that older core to Mill Creek. A greenway kiosk and creek-access sign installed in 2024 include walking and bicycling information, while benches and recurring volunteer cleanups support use of the stream corridor. The town is also developing nearly 20 acres on Sunset Road as Chrismon-Brown Park, with plans for a multipurpose field, walking trail, basketball court, and combined tennis and pickleball court.

Residents selected the name in a 2026 public vote. It honors the Chrismon and Brown families, who operated adjacent Sunset Park as a Black social and sports gathering place; the town identifies its early ballfield as the first in Middle Tennessee established for African Americans. In the historic district, the town-run Buttercup Festival brings artisans, food, and music together each spring, with shuttle stops at Town Hall, the library, schools, and historic museum in 2026. Brushstrokes Across Nolensville added another use of the main road that year, displaying work by Tennessee artists on street banners from spring through fall.
