About North Bellmore

North Bellmore's clearest civic gathering place is its public library on Newbridge Road. Beyond books and digital media, the branch lends museum passes and household equipment, provides computers, printing and scanning, and maintains an Innovation Room. Its sustainability work is unusually visible: a seed library and annual free-tree program invite residents to grow plants at home, while an autism-resource sensory nook gives children a calming space inside the building. In 2026, its schedule also included one-to-one technology help, English-language classes, hands-on workshops, and an outdoor summer concert series. North Bellmore had 20,583 residents in 2020. Its 2.62 square miles held 7,856 residents per square mile, while Census estimates for 2020-2024 put the owner-occupied share at 90.3 percent and the mean journey to work at 36.1 minutes.

Larger recreation and rail facilities sit just south of the CDP boundary. The Town of Hempstead's 2600 Newbridge Road complex is in neighboring Bellmore CDP and combines outdoor pools, an indoor ice rink, courts, ballfields, play equipment, a dog park, and multipurpose paths. The Bellmore Long Island Rail Road station is also south of North Bellmore; its station map shows resident-permit, off-peak, and unrestricted parking areas along with bicycle racks and lockers. These locations account for the everyday shorthand "the Bellmores" even though North Bellmore and Bellmore remain separate Census places within the same town.
