About North Bend
North Bend is a Dodge County city on the north bank of the Platte, where the Great Platte River Road, the Union Pacific line, and the old Lincoln Highway all leave marks on the map. Scottish settlers Robert Millar and George Young arrived with their families on July 4, 1856; the town site was later laid out with the railroad, and North Bend became a city in 1886. U.S. 30 and Nebraska 79 still meet here, while the Union Pacific tracks carry the same east-west corridor through town. June's Old Settlers celebration keeps the founding story on the calendar. North Bend is a Platte Valley railroad town with a pioneer road running through its middle.
