North City, IL

North City is a tiny, peaceful village in southern Illinois, sitting right on the northern edge of Christopher in Franklin County. Many locals refer to the community as Coello, a name that dates back to the village's first postmaster in 1918. The area was originally settled around a pair of early coal mines known as New North and Old North. Today, Route 148 skirts the eastern side of the village, giving residents a direct connection to nearby towns like Valier, Sesser, and Benton.

For newcomers, North City offers affordable housing and a quiet, low-traffic environment where neighbors know each other.
