North Corbin, KY

North Corbin is a census-designated place spread across southern Laurel County and a small part of Knox County, just north of the city of Corbin. The 2020 census counted 1,727 residents. U.S. Route 25 runs through the community, with the Laurel River valley shaping the hills and roads around it. The place is a crossroads settlement whose address lines can cross county lines, while Corbin supplies the nearby city services and regional name.

North Corbin's best-known landmark is the Harland Sanders Café and Museum, where Sanders operated a service station and later built his café. The first café opened in 1937, burned in 1939, and the rebuilt restaurant-motel complex reopened on July 4, 1940. Sanders sold the café in 1956 and began selling franchises, tying this roadside place to the larger KFC story. The museum's original dining room, kitchen displays, and motel-room exhibit keep that highway history visible.
