North Decatur, GA

North Decatur is an unincorporated census-designated community in DeKalb County, Georgia, just outside the city of Decatur. It has about eighteen thousand residents and is served by DeKalb County Schools. The area's older history includes Chapman Powell, whose Medicine House cabin stood near present-day Clairmont Road. Today the community is defined by close-in Atlanta access, established neighborhoods, and green spaces such as Mason Mill Park and Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve, which give North Decatur more breathing room than its urban location suggests.
