About North Granville
North Granville is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Granville, Washington County, New York. The 2020 census counted 524 residents. It lies along New York Route 22, about five miles northwest of the village of Granville, with a post office using ZIP code 12854. The place's most useful landmark is the Town–Hollister Farm on the hamlet's western side: a historic farm complex with a Federal-style house built around 1810 and agricultural structures that show the area's long farming tradition. The 275-acre property joined the National Register in 2008.
North Granville's story is carried by the town road and the farm landscape more than by a separate municipal government. Route 22 ties the hamlet to Granville and the broader Washington County–Vermont border country, while the post office gives it a distinct mailing address. The local scoop is the pairing of a modern census designation with a very old farmstead: 524 residents in 2020, an 1810 house, and a road that still gives the hamlet its place on the map.
