North Haverhill, NH

North Haverhill is one of the formal village precincts in the Town of Haverhill, New Hampshire, set on a bluff above the Connecticut River at the junction of Routes 10 and 116. The river marks New Hampshire's western boundary, while Route 10 runs north toward Woodsville and south toward Piermont, Orford, Lyme, and Hanover. Route 116 turns east toward the White Mountains, so North Haverhill is a road junction with a strong agricultural backdrop rather than an isolated village.

County government gives the place extra weight. Grafton County offices and the courthouse moved from Woodsville to a new Route 10 complex just north of North Haverhill's center in 1972, and the village remains one of Haverhill's four formal precincts. The North Haverhill Fair brings the agricultural side into view each summer, with 4-H, livestock, exhibits, and the usual fairground machinery. North Haverhill is where county business, river-valley farms, and White Mountain routes overlap, while the larger town's other villages—Woodsville, Haverhill Corner, Mountain Lakes, and others—keep the local government spread out.
