About North Warren

North Warren is a Conewango Township CDP along Conewango Creek, immediately north of the city of Warren. The defining landmark is Warren State Hospital, Pennsylvania’s third state mental institution, established by an 1873 legislative act and opened to its first patient in 1880. The hospital’s farm and colony buildings became part of the local landscape, while the creek and State Route 62 keep the community tied to Warren County’s north-south corridor. Warren County School District serves the area. North Warren is a place whose name is mostly a map instruction, but the hospital grounds and creek give that map label some weight.
