North York, PA

North York is a small borough in York County, immediately beside the City of York. The 2020 census counted 2,196 residents. There is no need to pretend it is a freestanding rural town: North York is a compact borough woven into the York urban area, with local streets and homes running up against the city line. The borough’s position puts it close to York’s downtown, county institutions, shopping, schools, and rail-and-road network, while borough government handles its own municipal business. Its scale is the main local fact—the place is small, adjacent, and easy to understand as part of York’s north-side fabric. North York keeps the basic borough toolkit moving: council work, streets, codes, police coverage, and coordination with county and regional services.

The Northern York County Regional Police Department serves the area, while the nearby City of York supplies the larger city backdrop and many daily destinations. North York does not have a separate tourist identity or a long list of landmarks; the useful scoop is how it fits together.
