Oliver, PA

Oliver is a census-designated place in North Union Township, Fayette County, directly north of Uniontown. The 2010 census counted 2,535 residents. Uniontown, the county seat, borders Oliver to the south, and East Uniontown lies to the southeast, so the CDP functions within a larger Fayette County urban edge. Residential streets sit beside Uniontown's larger commercial and government corridor. U.S. 119 passes through Oliver as a bypass, and the Mon-Fayette Expressway has an interchange in the community, putting major north-south routes beside local streets.

North Union Township was separated from Old Union Township by a state act in 1851 and now provides the municipal framework for Oliver. The Laurel Highlands School District serves North Union Township and the surrounding Uniontown communities, with its high school and middle school in the city. Oliver's practical map is therefore regional: township government, Uniontown's county-seat services, and Laurel Highlands schools meet at a highway interchange that connects the CDP to the wider Monongahela foothills region.
