Orangeville, PA

Orangeville is a Columbia County borough along Fishing Creek, about seven miles north of Bloomsburg on Pennsylvania Route 487. The borough is surrounded by Orange Township; Route 93 heads east toward Berwick, and Knob Mountain rises along the northeastern edge. That gives Orangeville a map of creek, crossroads, and hillside, with the borough tucked into a compact interior of the county. The place was settled in the early 1800s, its first store was recorded in 1822, and Orangeville became a borough in 1900.

Older community life ran through churches, an academy, mills, and the creek itself. The Orangeville male and female academy was incorporated in 1858, while local histories describe log churches and early settlers along the Fishing Creek valley. Today the waterway still sets the tone, with roads and civic buildings gathering around the same narrow corridor. The Orangeville Fire Company serves the surrounding township, and the borough's municipal offices sit on Mill Street. Orangeville feels like a Pennsylvania crossroads where the creek remains the clearest guide to the town's past and present.
