Orlinda, TN

Orlinda is a city in northern Robertson County, set along Highway 52 near the Kentucky line. The town began as Crockers Crossroads, then changed names when a nearby Tuckers Crossroads made the mail route confusing. Orlinda was incorporated in 1965, and the 2020 census counted 947 residents. City Hall and the post office moved to their current Highway 52 location in 2000, giving the city a clear civic marker along the road.

The old Bank of Orlinda building now serves as the city library, adding a second civic landmark with a little local history built in. Students attend East Robertson Elementary and East Robertson High in nearby Cross Plains. Orlinda's name also appears on the Red River and Highland Road corridor, where a bridge collapse in 2019 briefly put the rural road network in the news. That arrangement still works. This is a small Robertson County city whose identity comes through its highway, post office, library, and the countryside around them.
